Day 1
At 7:30 PM, Bar Association members united for the first time to get acquainted to the jobs they would be holding. Luther Liggett, attorney at law, began the meeting and introduced the members of a trial that would be demonstrated. The honorable Common Pleas Court Judge, Nick Selvaggio presided over the trial in which a boy was charged with traffic violations. On the prosecution side, Ohio State Trooper of the Year for 2020 answered questions about what he witnessed during the traffic stop. Ultimately, attorney Luther Liggett used this trial to educate association members on the proper way to deliver an argument with examples of 'the Greek temple' and 'Issue Tree.'

Day 2
At 8:15 AM, Bar Association members gathered and were introduced to Thayne Gray, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Union County, Ohio. Attorney Gray offered important information about brief writing and explained that a brief is an important part of a successful trial. Later on, the honorable Medina County Probate Judge Kevin Dunn shared his advice to judges for decision writing. After these two wonderful presentations, the Bar Association meeting broke off into groups so that attorneys, clerks, and judges alike could receive job specific training.

Day 3
At 8:15 AM the honorable Judge Dunn called to order the third gathering of the Buckeye Boys State Bar Association continuation of legal education meeting. Judge Dunn introduced the honorable Judge Selvaggio to discuss an important topic in law - rules and ethics. Justice Selvaggio compared ethics to a football field explaining that as long as one stays within the perimeter of the field, they are okay and acting ethically. Justice Selvaggio explained the specific considerations for lawyers and judges while reminding everyone that law is not a competition, but rather the practice of ensuring everyone is treated with justice. Upon close of the meeting, lawyers took "A Lawyer's Creed" and judges took "A Judicial Creed."

Day 4
At 8:15 AM the honorable Judge Dunn talked to the Bar Association about conducting legal research. Judge Dunn explained to delegates that there are three major research data bases for legal research. Delegates have and will continue to use Casemaker. Next, Judge Dunn talked to delegates about legislature research and how departments will send laws that might go into effect to Justices so they can prepare and state their opinion on how the law will effect their court. Stare decisis was also explained to the delegates. Stare decisis is the term for a decision from another court is legally binding. Delegates then broke out into groups by their profession in the legal system and prepared for the busy day.
