On the first day of work in the State government the Department of Higher Education met with several other departments: Veteran's Services, Opportunities of Ohioans with Disabilities, and the Department of Developmental Disabilities in preparation for planned legislation. Two pieces of legislation are being created: first, one to provide scholarships for veterans and second, to provide scholarships for the disabled in Ohio. Our goals include expanding availability to win scholarships for Ohio residents, planning new institutions of higher education, and expanding opportunities for veterans and the disabled in Ohio. We look forward to continuing this inter-departmental cooperation in order to address the issues facing the buckeye state.
