Police/Fire Chief Evan Yost of Strong City asserted efforts to establish a K-9 unit, approved there-of by City Counsel earlier today. Mr. Yost wrote that crime activities, specifically related to theft and drug-use, are on the rise in the economically starved community of Strong City. He said, “ I know what change we need. A K-9 Unit would bring assistance with these rising threats and help bring security to our community.” Not only will this unit of the force bring down crime rates, but it will also will help provide public relations to the city, resulting in bringing people together and uniting the community. Additionally with a K-9 unit established in Strong City, more protection will be provided city-wide and people will begin to populate the community more readily than before because of the added security. After wonderful donations from the American Legion of $15,000 and the American Kennel Club Grant of $20,000, as well as our own city dunk tank fundraiser that raised $3,000 and our city Citizens Academy that raised $2,900, the expenses of our program were brought from $84,500 to $43,600. Thank you to all who donated to our program and participated in our local fundraiser, we couldn’t have done it without you.
